Case 4971: Body Contouring after Weight Loss

This patient lost 65 pounds over the previous 2 years with diet & exercise. This resulted in a significant amount of excess, hanging skin of the abdominal region. This is analogous to have a gastric bypass procedure and dropping your weight substantially. She desired an improvement in the contour of her abdominal region. With significant weight loss, the skin of the thighs and buttock region will also start to sag. A traditional tummy tuck would not have taken care of the sagging skin in the thigh and buttock region. A circumferential body lift (sometimes also know as a belt lipectomy or circumferential abdominoplasty) helps tighten the skin of the abdomen, thighs and the buttock areas in one single procedure. She has an excellent outcome and is very happy. Note that her incisions will become much less noticeable with time. These photos are only 4 weeks following surgery and she can expect a significant lightening of her scars in the ensuing months.
