About Thigh Lift Surgery
Weight loss is a huge triumph for any individual. In some cases, men and women who achieve their weight loss goals sometimes require one extra thing to complete their physical transformation. Based on the length of time you were overweight and the amount of weight you lost, hanging skin can be a new concern if the skin wasn't able to adapt to the smaller shape and size of the body. The thighs, specifically, are an area of trouble for many people. Our Colorado Springs, CO plastic surgeons offer surgical thigh lifts (known as thighplasty) at the Institute of Plastic Surgery, which trims away the excess skin on the inner and outer thighs to create a tighter, more contoured look. This surgery has increased in popularity since it can give natural-looking results for anyone battling loose skin on the thighs.
Thighplasty is a skin tightening and removal treatment that addresses hanging skin. Thigh lift surgery is considered a post weight loss treatment. Thigh lift surgery is often used on people who have lost 100 pounds or more, but it's also helpful among older patients who are battling loose skin caused by natural aging, plus women whose weight changed because of pregnancy and childbirth. If you have loose, wrinkly, or hanging skin on your upper thighs (whether it's the outer or inner thighs or both), this surgery can be helpful. Please keep in mind that if cellulite is the main concern, we can recommend different treatments that can help reduce the look of cellulite.

"Blessed that Dr. Dash did my BA - I’m 3 days post op from my BA and couldn’t have asked for a better physician to do my surgery. Dr. Dash and her staff were amazing. I was a little nervous going into my first consult, but everyone made me feel so comfortable. Dr. Dash throughly went over the different kinds of implants, case studies that have been done and answered every question that I had. She is very patient, kind and ful..."- B. / RealSelf / Oct 22, 2018
"Total facial resurfacing - I have had horrible cystic acne from a very young age. I’m 32 and I still break out on occasion. It doesn’t help that I pick at it either, but the scars are awful. I’ve always been self conscious about my face. I decided to go and do something about it when I decided I wanted a breast lift/aug. Some light shows more of the depth of these rolling scar better than others. It has been 24 hours..."- Y. / RealSelf / Sep 22, 2018
"Breast lift with implants - I have had fairly large breasts since high school. They were great and followed me everywhere. Then I went to college and gain the “freshmen 50” (yes 50, not 15) and they got quite large. Between yo-yo dieting, poor nutrition, and inconsistent exercising, they just look sad and deflated. Now that I’m 32, I have finally figured out how to feed myself and I’m stable enough that I’ve decided t..."- Y. / RealSelf / Sep 16, 2018
For thigh lift surgery, general anesthesia is typically used. A surgical incision is placed near the top of the leg in the natural fold where the thigh meets the torso. The incision usually extends along to the midway section of the thigh. This permits enough space to perform surgical liposuction (if needed) to eliminate stubborn pockets of fat and to trim away the excess skin in the top of the thigh area. The skin will be stretched upward so the skin can be tightened and secured with sutures. In some patients, an additional incision may be made underneath the buttocks or in the outer thigh area, based on the quantity of skin and tissue being addressed. Thigh lift surgery at Institute of Plastic Surgery corrects the entire thigh area for a tighter, shapelier, more contoured look.
What to Expect
Thighplasty takes about 2 – 3 hours to perform. Once the procedure is done, you will be monitored and assessed before you are allowed to go home to recover. There is often bruising, swelling, and discomfort associated with the immediate recovery period. In several days, many patients are able to get up and slowly walk around, which is necessary for circulation and healthy healing. The overall recovery time usually lasts around 6 – 8 weeks. During this time, following wound care instructions given by your surgeon will help your surgical incision to heal properly. Although patients will have some scarring, the improved contour and shape of your legs will help you regain your self-confidence and flaunt your thighs with pride.
