An incision may also be required underneath the chin, but this incision is typically too small to leave much scarring behind. When more dramatic correction is required, the augmentation may be done by advancing the chin bone to create a stronger lower face shape. This procedure tends to involve more discomfort and a longer recovery process. However, the results can also be much more dramatic.
