Sagging Breasts – What can be done?

If you have been researching options to give your breasts a lift, you’ve likely come across numerous claims that things other than a breast lift procedure can lift your breast back up to a perkier position on your chest. We’d all like to avoid surgery when possible and there’s nothing wrong with that, but keeping our Colorado Springs clientele well informed is highly important to us so we want you to just know the facts when it comes to breast lifting claims from creams, supplements, etc… Here’s a little fact versus fiction outline of the common rumors we hear about breast lift treatments

Fiction: Exercises such as the bench press and chest fly will increase the pectoral muscle, lift the breasts and stop any sagging.

Fact: These exercises will help enhance tone but the will not change the shape or positioning of the breasts. A breast lift is the only real solution for raising the breasts to a higher position on the chest wall.
Fiction: Bouncing causes breasts to droop

Fact: Breasts sag because over time the supporting ligaments and skin stretch out due to gravity. Everywhere on the body skin will lose its elasticity, breasts are particularly vulnerable because they hang already.

Fiction: Creams, potions, lotions, and supplements can restore breast firmness and perkiness.

Fact: Creams and other topical or oral “breast lifting” enhancements will NOT lift sagging breasts. We hate to see our Colorado Springs friends and family waste time and money on these false claims. It would be nice to have an easy, quick way to make breasts a little perkier but there are just no good studies that support the breast lifting capability of topical creams, ointments or oral supplements. Even most exercise routines will not give you perkier breasts.

Fiction: Implants alone will give you lift.

Fact: The main result from breast augmentation with implants is fullness, not necessarily a breast lift. Of course, a breast lift can be done at the same time as a breast augmentation but breast implants alone will not necessarily give you a significant breast lift.

Fiction: Small breasts will not sag.

Fact: While smaller breasts sag less than larger breasts, they are still vulnerable to sagging. Breast size changes throughout a woman’s lifetime due to changes in hormones, weight and lifestyle changes in addition to pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Sagging breasts is a natural part of the aging process as the ligaments and tissue are impacted by gravity, but they don’t have to stay that way. If you want to give your breasts significant lift without a bra, then breast lift surgery is your best option. If you’re not ready for a breast lift procedure there are some reasonable temporary ways to give the breasts a lift and these include: Investing in a properly fitted bra; keeping your weight stable because drastic changes up and down can lead to sagging; sleep on your back and avoid putting too much weight on your front side; keep breasts moisturized and always use sunscreen; maintain good posture; exercise regularly; if and when your breasts do head south, don’t hesitate to nab a really great push-up bra.

If you live in the Colorado Springs area and are tired of your saggy breasts, contact our office today and we’ll be more than happy to help you in whatever way we can.
