About BBL - (Sciton Laser)
At the Institute of Plastic Surgery, we are proud to offer Forever Young BBL photo rejuvenation treatments to refresh your appearance. Forever Young BBL applies broadband light technology (BBL - (Sciton Laser) ) to treat signs of aging and sun damage using pulsed light. The light energy heats the top layers of your skin targeted for treatment, stimulating those cells to produce new collagen. The photothermal energy emitted by the BBL device can also eliminate the damaged blood vessels and capillaries in your skin that cause redness, as well as the excess melanin responsible for hyperpigmentation, melasma (sun spots), and freckles. Because the device is so versatile, our board-certified plastic surgeons are able to treat problems on any area of the body. In addition, Forever Young BBL can be used to diminish unwanted hair and help control acne. If you are suffering from any of these skin afflictions, then we encourage you to schedule a consultation at the Institute of Plastic Surgery in Colorado Springs, CO today.
Ideal Candidates for BBL - (Sciton Laser)
You will be an ideal candidate for a BBL - (Sciton Laser) treatment if you are suffering from skin damage and aging due to overexposure to the sun. UV rays can cause severe wrinkles, age spots, and other skin afflictions that detract from your overall complexion. A BBL treatment can also be used to reduce visible blood vessels, help rosacea or hyperpigmentation, as well as eliminate acne and unwanted body hair. While it is primarily used as a photofacial treatment, the device can be administered to any areas of your body that need rejuvenating and smoothing. This is a great option if you have had little success with other anti-aging and skin products and do not wish to undergo surgery.

Procedure Techniques
Once you’ve scheduled your Forever Young BBL session and arrive for your treatment, you will be given protective eyewear, and a cool gel will be applied to the treatment areas. If you choose, we will give you anesthetic cream on the treatment sites 45 minutes prior to the procedure, but this is optional and something you can discuss with our surgeons. During the treatment, the Forever Young BBL handpiece emits light, delivering it to the skin’s surface via pulses across the affected area. Discomfort is minimal, with patients describing the sensation as a slight sting (like a rubber band being snapped on the skin). The handpiece is also equipped with an integrated cooling system to keep your skin from overheating and to ensure that no tissue is affected outside of the targeted areas.
What to Expect
One of the great advantages of Forever BBL is that there is little to no downtime following treatment: you should be able to return to your regular activities right away. Initially, your face may look a bit red or flushed, but this usually fades within a few hours. If necessary, you can apply ice to the treated areas after the procedure, but it is recommended that you avoid any anti-inflammatory medication (including over the counter pain relievers) for a few days both before and after your treatment. Side effects are rare and may include slight bruising or swelling, which typically fades in 5 – 10 days. Our surgeons will provide you with instructions on how to care for your skin following your BBL procedure. Over the course of a few weeks, you will notice smoother skin and a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.
