Breast Augmentation - Colorado Springs Institute of Plastic Surgery
Video Transcript
Breast augmentation is the most common cosmetic surgery that's being done in the country right now. It is the placement of implants in the breast to restore fullness and projection and it is sometimes done to achieve symmetry. Post operatively, breast augmentation patients usually can return to work at the end of a week if their work is non-exertional. Now they're usually on pain medication for about 3 to 5 days after surgery, and after that they're weaned off of the pain medication fairly quickly.
The results of breast augmentation surgery are long lasting. That means that a patient can expect to keep her implants for the rest of her life in most cases. However, there are times where a patient would expect to have a surgery somewhere in her lifetime either to do a size exchange on the implants, or replace a ruptured implant, or potentially repair capsular contracture.
The factors that I look at in evaluating a patient for breast augmentation are the shape of the breast, where the majority of the breast tissue is lying on the chest wall, what the position of the nipple is on the chest wall, the width of the breast, and the size that the patient would like to go to. If a patient would like to learn more about breast augmentation, they can contact our office and have a free consultation with either myself or Dr. Jain.
