How to Achieve a V-Shaped Face
The V-shape is a coveted look among women today, leading women to search for a way to sculpt and slim the facial profile. At the Institute of Plastic Surgery, we offer both surgical and non-surgical procedures to help you achieve your aesthetic goals in this area. Check out these options for creating the desired facial profile you are looking for.
Sculpting the Chin
The V-shape begins with a narrow, sculpted chin and jawline. To achieve this look, we offer both chin augmentation and liposuction to create definition along the lower jaw and bring out a weak chin.
Chin Augmentation
This surgical procedure places a small synthetic implant into the chin to create fullness and definition in the lower face. Chin implants come in a variety of shapes and sizes, allowing us to customize them to the unique facial features and proportions of each patient. Incisions to place the implant are usually made in the mouth or on the underside of the chin where visible scarring will be minimal. The procedure is performed at our Colorado Springs center on an outpatient basis.
Chin Liposuction
Liposuction of the chin area can also be used on patients with good skin elasticity and submental fat under the jawline that is further exacerbating the round face shape. This procedure can be performed right in our Colorado Springs office and uses a small cannula to suction the fat cells out of the area. Tiny incisions are used to insert the cannula into the fat deposit, so there is little if any visible scarring afterward.
Adding Fullness to the Cheeks
In addition to the sculpting the chin, we can add fullness to the cheek area to further enhance the V-shape you are looking for. This goal may be met surgically with the use of cheek implants or non-surgically, using injectable dermal fillers to add volume to the midface.
Cheek Implants
Cheek implants are a permanent way to create volume and definition along the cheekbone. This procedure, like chin augmentation, uses synthetic implants in a shape and size to complement the proportions of the patient’s facial profile. Incisions for cheek augmentation are placed inside the mouth or in the natural crease of the lower eyelid, so there will be no visible scarring after the procedure. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.
Injectable Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers like Juvederm can also be used to restore volume to the cheeks on a temporary basis. These formulations are injected into the underlying dermal structure, where they can offer volumizing support to the lower dermal layers. This allows for plumping of the cheeks from the inside out. Dermal filler injections take just a few minutes to complete in our Colorado Springs office and do not require any anesthesia or downtime afterward. Most fillers will last six months or longer before a touch-up procedure is needed. Achieving a more attractive facial profile is easy today, with plenty of options to choose from in sculpting the chin and rounding out the cheekbones.
